CIPD holds successful event on updating skills

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, CIPD (Midlands Region) held a very successful breakfast briefing event recently in the Athlone Institute of Technology. The event entitled, "Update on Future Skills Needs", was hosted by AIT and presented by Anne Heraty, Chairperson of the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs and Chief Executive of Computer Placement (CPL) Resources plc. The expert group acts as the central national resource on skills and labour supply for the enterprise sector and an overall strategy for enterprise training in Ireland. Anne Heraty"s key message was to emphasise the importance of developing skills in advancing Ireland"s value proposition. Ms Hearty went on to explain that even within the current economic environment there is still strong demand for high skilled workers in key sectors, which reinforces that the implementation of skills strategy is the key priority followed by implementation of recommendations of sector reports. The Midlands CIPD"s next event "A Practical Guide to Assessment & Psychometric Testing" will take place on Tuesday, March 3, at 6pm in the Tullamore Court Hotel.
