Offaly director's 'electrifying thriller' nominated for five IFTA awards
Offaly director Paddy Slattery's debut feature film, Broken Law, has today been nominated in five categories at the 2021 Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) awards
Paddy said he was "blown away" after Broken Law was this morning nominated in the Best Film, Best Director, Best Script, Best Lead Actor (Tristan Heanue) and Best Supporting Actor (Ally Ní Chiaráin) categories.
IFTA described the film as an "electrifying thriller" which "crackles with energy".
Set in Dublin and starring Heanue, Graham Earley, and John Connors, Broken Law revolves around two brothers on opposite sides of the law - one a Garda and the other a criminal.
It was released in cinemas last summer and earned strong reviews, with the Guardian describing it as "a headbutt of a thriller".
The film's director is native of Clonbullogue, where he still lives and has set up a studio.
The IFTA awards ceremony will again be a virtual event this year and will be broadcast on Virgin Media One on Sunday, July 4.
