Two-day road closure in place outside Birr Castle Demesne

A road closure is in place outside Birr Castle Demesne today (Monday) and tomorrow, due to roadworks being carried out on behalf of Offaly County Council.

William Street and Rosse Row are currently closed to traffic, aside from local access, with the closures due to remain in effect from 8am to 6pm on both Monday and Tuesday.

Offaly County Council said the road resurfacing works were being carried out on its behalf by Kilsaran Limited.

In a social media post, Birr Castle Demense apologised for any disruption the works may cause to its visitors.

"Parking is available in the Marian Hall carpark and pedestrian access to the Demesne is still available through the gate on William Street," it said.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our friends and visitors, however this is completely outside our control."
