Yellow rain warning issued for six counties

Met Éireann has issued a yellow rain warning for six counties from 6 pm on Wednesday.

The warning has been issued for Clare, Donegal, Mayo, Leitrim, Sligo, and Galway, and will last until 6 pm on Thursday.

Met Éireann has warned of localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible.

There will be sunshine and showers from the west and extending to all areas this afternoon.

Some will be heavy or prolonged further west with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees with mostly moderate to fresh southwest winds.

Wednesday night will see heavy showers, again merging to longer spells of thundery rain across Atlantic counties with spot flooding.

Thursday will see blustery southwesterly winds and frequent showers, merging to longer spells of rain with local lightning and spot flooding, especially across northwest counties

Temperatures will drop to between 15 to 20 degrees.
