Local band help paint Las Vegas green

A local band played a starring role in the St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Las Vegas earlier this week.

Ruaile Buaile, a four-piece group based in Tullamore, helped Las Vegas residents get into the sprit of the Irish national holiday when they performed on KTNV, a local TV station affiliated with the ABC Network.
Appearing on the 'Morning Blend’ TV show, the band performed an original song called 'Foreign Shores’, which singer Niall Kelly said was about young people in Ireland emigrating to Australia and America. Niall spoke about the difficulties caused by Ireland’s economic climate.

“We’re in our early 20s and it’s hard to see all our friends leaving,” he said.
The band is currently in the middle of a week-long residency at the RíRá venue in Las Vegas.
Posting on their facebook page on Wednesday, the group said: “So we survived our first St Patrick’s Day in Las Vegas. After a nice relaxing day yesterday we’re ready to kick off again in Rí Rá Las Vegas tonight #CrazyTown #GotToLove#”
The band, which also includes Shane Lynam, Jack Godley and Arthur O’Connor, has been touring the US in recent weeks having also played a number of gigs in Florida and Washington DC.
Commenting that “you are never too far from home,” they reported that a bottle of Tullamore Dew was the first thing they saw when they arrived in Florida!
Ruaile Buaile’s music is described as “modern traditional folk”. The band’s debut album - Commotion - was launched in Tullamore’s Bridge House Hotel last June.
