Famous rock frontman to perform at Offaly venue

The frontman of popular rock band Ash is set to perform a solo acoustic at the well-known John Lee's Bar & Venue in Tullamore.

Tim Wheeler, who penned such hits as 'Girl from Mars', 'Oh Yeah' and 'Kung-Fu', will be performing at the Offaly venue on Saturday, October 10.

The 49-year-old, originally from Co. Down, is embarking on a solo acoustic tour of Ireland this October, bringing his songs to a selection of intimate grassroots venues across the country.

John Lee's Bar & Venue said the occasion will see Wheeler 'stripping the music back to its essentials, featuring songs spanning Tim’s celebrated career with Ash alongside solo material'. They said the event will offer audiences a rare opportunity to experience the stories and songwriting behind some of his best-loved work in 'unique, up-close settings'.

Ash has released two albums in the last three years, following on from the 2018 album release 'Islands'.

Originally a trio, Ash burst on the scene in 1996 with the release of debut album '1977'.

Support performances on the night will be provided Daingean native Adrian Fox and Roscrea's Jack Keeshan. Tickets are priced at €25 and are available at leesbar.ie
