Tullamore Harriers Juvenile Notes
Tullamore Harriers" young athletes covered themselves in glory and returned home with many medals from last Saturday"s Leinster U-9/11 Pairs Competition and U-12/13 T & F Championships in Navan. Ryan Crampton added to his Leinster Indoor title with another title winning performance in the Boy"s U-12 Shot Putt. He had a best putt of 8.25 meters to take the gold medal and he also finished 9th in the 600m and 12th in the Long Jump. Conor Mulligan took two silver medals in the Boy"s U-13 Shot Putt and Javelin. He threw 24.31 meters in the javelin and 10.64 meters in the Shot Putt to cap a fine day. Ciara Galvin had a great jump of 4.41 meters in the Girl"s U-12 Long Jump, which broke the championship record but she was pipped for the gold medal, taking silver. She then went out and took the bronze medal in the U-12 600m in 1.58, a race which saw her team-mates Keelin Guilfoyle and Cara Todd finish sixth and ninth respectively. Keelin Guilfoyle had a fine putt of 7.50 meters to win the silver medal in the U-12 Shot Putt, while Anita Babu did very well to take fourth in the same event with 6.37 meters. Keelin also finished fifth in the U-13 Long Jump with 4.06 meters. Michelle Keegan had a great jump of 4.45 meters to take the silver medal in the U-13 Long Jump, a huge new PB. She also finished sixth in the javelin. Gerard Godley qualified for the final of the U-12 60m and finished a fine sixth in 9.52 seconds. He was also 13th in the Long Jump (3.64m). Noelle Cocoman and Nadine Donegan ran personal best times of 1.56 and 1.59 respectively in the heats of the U-13 600m to qualify for the final. They then went on to finish 9th and 10th in the final. Noelle was also tenth in the Long Jump (3.97m) while Nadine was 15th (3.89m). Glen Cunningham ran a fine new PB of 1.54 in the Boy"s U-13 600m but narrowly missed making the final. Other creditable performances came from Barry Mooney - who finished third in his heat of the U-13 80m but failed to make the final and injured himself in the process - and Alison Mooney and Katie Kidd in the U-12 Long Jump. Harriers athletes also performed brilliantly in the U-9 to U-11 Pairs Competition; at time of going to press, full results of that competition were not available. Those who finished in the top four in their events have qualified for the National Championships next month.
