An Post Boys in Green give stamp of approval to Offaly support

The An Post Sean Kelly cycling team headed back to their team base in Brussels this week, but not before they sent a message of thanks to the people of Offaly for the great support they received when the FBD Rás passed through Offaly on Saturday, May 23, during the penultimate Stage of the eight stage race. 'We were blown away to be honest by the way the crowd got behind us, there was a big cheer for us when we came into Clara at the end of Stage 7, and it really does make a huge difference,' said David O"Loughlin. Postmaster in Clara, Maura Naughton, played a big role in getting locals to come out and support the An Post Seán Kelly team. 'There was a great sense of anticipation around the town ahead of the Rás and I"m very proud of the warm welcome the town gave to the all the riders and to the An Post team in particular,' Maura said. 'There is no doubt that the warm welcome we receive from the people here at home makes a huge difference to us,' said O"Loughlin. 'The encouragement from the people of Offaly was fantastic.' The An Post team went on to have a great finish to the Rás, winning both the King Of the Mountains (O"Loughlin) and the Points competition (Niko Eeckhout).
