Book of solidarity opens in Edenderry Town Hall

A book of solidarity for all victims of institutional child abuse has opened at Edenderry Town Hall, following a request from Cllr Fergus McDonnell. The request followed on from the publication of the Ryan Report into State Run Institutions published recently. Councillor McDonnell has been asked by a number of residents of the area on the local election canvass of the need to show solidarity to all victims of abuse and their families, that the people of the area abhor what occurred in state run institutions as detailed in the Ryan Report. 'The people of the North Offaly area would like to express their support to all victims of abuse throughout the state. We in the North Offaly area were largely unaware of what was happening under our noses. Following my request to the Town Hall Edenderry I am delighted to report that a Book Of Solidarity has opened to the public in Edenderry Town Hall. Members of the public wishing to express their support to the victims of institutional abuse and their families are invited to sign the book at Edenderry Town Hall,' concluded Cllr McDonnell.
