TMS at the AIMS awards

Tullamore Musical Society celebrated with up to 1,000 people at the annual AIMS awards ceremony weekend held in Killarney last weekend. High standards and enormous talents of the amateur musical circuit were appreciated hugely at the awards. The Association of Irish Musical Societies honours those with exceptional talent in Irish amateur musical theatre, both on stage and off. Any nomination or even winning an award is looked on as being one of the highest achievements for any Amateur Irish Musical Society. Tullamore went forward with a nomination for Best Front of House Management but was pipped by a well deserved Ballinrobe Musical Society with their show "Chess". Also well known local face and voice, Karen Martin was nominated for her performance as "Charity" in "Sweet Charity" for Portlaoise MS. Other local societies such as Clara Musical Society and Birr Stage Guild were nominated, while Tommy Lyndon of Birr Stage Guild proudly returned home armed with his award for best supporting male. TMS would like to congratulate all nominees and winners involved this year but most importantly those who contribute in any way to keeping the musical society in Tullamore alive and running. Without local interest and financial support, high quality performances could not go ahead. TMS wants you all to watch out for the late summer night"s entertainment they are busy organising. During the month of September the Tullamore Musical Society will host a series of heats in various popular locations in Tullamore in the true style of "Stars in your Eyes". The grand final being held in the Bridge House Hotel. More details and application forms to follow on www.tullamoremusicalsociety.com
