Tullamore furniture store hit by drop in trade

Another high-street furniture store has been hit by the recession this week, as it was announced on Wednesday that Arramount Furniture in Tullamore has gone into administration. Arramount Woodcraft (Holdings) Limited and its trading subsidiaries are seeking the appointment of an interim examiner, Kieran Wallace of KPMG. The store, on the Portarlington Road, is continuing to trade as normal throughout this period. The company says the move will allow it time to negotiate with potential investors and to complete arrangements with creditors in an effort to secure its longterm future. Arramount Furniture was established in 1995. It currently operates seven stores nationwide, including Tullamore, Athlone and Mullingar. The company said its current difficulties stemmed from the current economic downturn and reduced consumer demand. 'Management would like to confirm that all orders where deposits have been taken will be delivered and customers who place deposits during examinership will receive their ordered furniture,' said a statement.
