Mundy to headline major summer festival in Athlone

Birr singer-songwriter Mundy is to perform at a 1200-capacity marquee in Athlone later this month. The popular artist who released his fourth album, Strawberry Blood, earlier this year, will appear on Saturday, July 18, as the headline act of a festival which will coincide with Ireland"s biggest annual triathlon race. The festival, triFest, will feature live music performances at a marquee in Athlone"s Civic Square for three consecutive nights, starting on Friday, July 17. On the Friday evening, the marquee will open at 7pm and Mullingar band The Blizzards will top the bill, with support from Gorilla Radio and Twisted Logic. The following night, the marquee will host the official post-triathlon gig. Doors will open at 8pm and Mundy is the headline act, with support from Hogan. On the Sunday afternoon a family festival will be held, while at 8pm on Sunday there will be traditional Irish music at the marquee, with a headline performance by David Warfield and The Young Wolfe Tones. Tickets will be priced at €25 each for the Friday and Saturday concerts, and at €10 for the Sunday event. A combination ticket for the Friday and Saturday concerts, priced €40, will also be available. Tickets go on sale at Music World in Athlone today (Friday). Mundy will perform a number of concerts throughout Ireland this summer, including a date at the Electric Picnic festival in Laois in September. In October he he has concerts lined up in the UK and Australia.
