Curley takes second in Lifestyle Sports-adidas Irish

Tullamore Harriers Pauline Curley narrowly missed out on the women's title in Lifestyle Sports-adidas Irish Runner 5 mile race on Saturday as she was pipped to the post by close friend and running foe Annette Kealy. Kealy made it two in a row as she strode comfortably over the line, claiming the women's title for a second consecutive year. It was a case of deja vu for Curley who came in second place behind Raheny Shamrocks Kealy last year. The former Beijing Olympian was closed off by just 5 seconds in the finish this year. "Never underestimate Pauline Curley, she's a formidable opponent. She was there with me for the first two miles, in the third I felt good and pushed on a bit and Pauline dropped back, it was a tough race" said Annette. Curley, a previous winner in 2005 and 2006, had nothing but praise for her running opponent: "Full credit to Annette, her performance was top rate. I thought at one point I had her reeled in but she got ahead. I'd like to congratulate her on a well deserved win".
