Churchview Heights to get games area

Councillor Noel Bourke has this week welcomed an allocation of approximately €60,000 to be used to put in place a multi-use games area at Churchview Heights in Edenderry. "This estate has not had a proper area for children to play football etc and I have been highlighting to the Council officials for some time the fact that children had to play on the road and the Council in turn have been trying to secure funding for such a facility," Cllr Bourke said. Cllr Bourke added that exact details of the facility have yet to be finalised, but it is expected it will be located in the area where the apartments were demolished some tiem ago and will include facilities for football, basketball and more with proper surfaces and fencing also being put in place. Cllr Bourke said plans will be finalised "in the coming weeks" and the facility constructed "in the coming months". He added that a similar facility is being put in place in St Joseph's Terrace in Portarlington.
