Heatwave moves on as temperature drops for weekend

It looks like the recent mini-heatwave has moved on, with temperatures set to fall back to average levels over the coming days. Met Eireann forecaster Sandra Spillane confirmed today (Tuesday) light showers are expected over the next few days and temperatures will return to approximately 15 degrees Celsius by the weekend. The good news is that the heaviest of any rain expected should fall at nighttime. However though forecasting far into the future is difficult Ms Spillane also broke the news of the possibility of rain during the day on Bank Holiday Monday. According to Ms Spillane though cooler temperatures will feel much colder after the recent bout of heat, the temperatures expected over the coming days are actually still mild for this time of year. Temperatures of approximately 18 degrees Celsius are expected on Wednesday, dropping to approximately 15 degrees Celsius from Thursday. The wind direction is also expected to change to a north easterly direction on Thursday. Clouds will remain over the weekend, but Ms Spillane said there will also hopefully be sunny spells, while the majority of the weekend will be dry and breezy but not windy. "It won't be as warm, it won't be as sunny," she admitted.
