Jordan Conroy sails through to finale of Dancing with the Stars

Tullamore rugby player Jordan Conroy has made it through to next week's grand final of Dancing with the Stars.

The 28-year-old danced a graceful American Smooth with his professional partner Salome Chachua to ‘The Sweetest Feeling’ by Jackie Wilson.

Judge, Loraine Barry said: “This was light and bright. Agile in the feet. Then you brought the foxtrot fluidly across the floor. The highlight here - the travelling splits. It was beautiful. It really went into American Smooth. It was charming.”

Fellow Judge, Arthur Gourounlian commented: “Sweetest feeling watching you dance together. Awesome energy. Jordan, you look so smart. You kept well together. Another side of Jordan. I loved it. Well done.”

Meanwhile, tough Judge Brian Redmond was also impressed with Jordan's moves on the dance floor.

“Movement through your feet, excellent, frame really good throughout. We’ve never seen you looking so suave. Great to see a different side of you. Shame on the lift, not as high as you’d have hoped for, but a very, very good attempt for American Smooth.”

Jordan and Salome scored 28 out of a possible 30 points from the judges.

After the celebrities completed their individual dances they had a second chance to improve their scores with the ‘Bust-A-Move Marathon.’ Each of the five couples danced a high energy routine. One by one, the judges decided which couple would leave the dance floor.

Jordan and Salome were the final couple left to showcase their skills for the entire duration of the marathon, earning them the maximum 5 extra points onto their original judges’ score.

Jordan will perform in the final of the show next Sunday on RTÉ ONE from 6.30pm along with finalists Ellen Keane, Nina Carberry and Erica Cody. Love Island star Matthew McNabb was voted off in the semi-final.
