New weather warning issued for Midlands with ice expected on Friday night

The counties of Westmeath, Offaly and Roscommon are among those set for another very cold night tonight (Friday) with Met Éireann issuing a yellow-level warning for icy conditions.

The warning will take effect at 7pm and will remain in place until 10am on Saturday.

With temperatures expected to drop as low as minus-five overnight in some places, Met Éireann said people should expect widespread frost and icy surfaces, leading to "hazardous" travelling conditions.

The yellow weather warning is in place for all of Connacht as well as Offaly, Westmeath, Longford, Laois, Louth, Meath, Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan.
