Youth club presents Christmas care packages to nursing home

St Joseph's Foróige Youth Club, based in Streamstown, recently made care packages for residents in a local nursing home. The leaders and committee discussed this idea and then brought the idea to the members. Everybody felt this was a good idea as there are many elderly people across the country who will not receive gifts this Christmas.

These care packages included items such as sweets, magazines and toiletries. Last Friday, the members got together, made some final arrangements and wrapped the gifts up. One of our leaders kindly dropped them off at the nursing home. Everybody involved in this hopes it has brightened up Christmas for residents.

Foróige is set up in many communities across Ireland, there are around 600 clubs across the country which include 50,000 members. The success of clubs is due to the leaders who volunteer and give up their time. St Joseph's Foróige club currently has over 40 members who meet up every Friday in Horseleap/Streamstown Community Centre to partake in many fun activities.

The group also go on many trips throughout the year such as Tayto park, etc. Every summer the club goes on a big overnight trip to places such as Delphi, Carlingford adventure centre or even Alton Towers in England!
