Tullamore hotel presents €2,500 raised for Offaly Down Syndrome Association

Staff at the Tullamore Court Hotel recently presented a cheque for €2,500, which was raised through charity initiatives at the hotel, to the Offaly Down Syndrome Association.

The Tullamore business is part of the iNUA Collection of hotels, which has been supporting Down Syndrome Ireland for the last five years, having chosen it as the group's charity partner in 2019.

Hotels in the group also support the charity's national employment programme, with the iNUA Collection now employing more than 20 Down Syndrome Ireland colleagues.

Some €30,000 was raised for the charity nationally through a Christmas voucher campaign which saw a €5 contribution being set aside for Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) from every €100 sold in a voucher across the collection.

In addition, a 'Clean the Planet, Not My Room' campaign allowed guests to choose not to have their room cleaned for one night and, in turn, donated €1 per room to the charity.

"With community as one of our core values here at The iNUA Collection, we are delighted to continue supporting this partnership for a fifth year," said Sean O'Driscoll, CEO of The iNUA Collection.

"The practical supports offered by Down Syndrome Ireland are invaluable, and their work in supporting adult education and independence enhances the lives of thousands of children and adults with Down Syndrome across the country."

Deirdre Buckley, The iNUA Collection Director of People & Culture noted, "As a team at iNUA, we unilaterally agreed on partnering with DSI as an excellent organisation, but the unexpected win for us all was our introduction to the DSI National Employment Programme to bring sustainable employment to members as part of the iNUA Collection partnership.

"Graduates from the DSI employment programme now come to us with skills that enable work readiness and so much more, so we have the opportunity to work alongside these graduates who have become valuable permanent colleagues."

Aoife Gaffney, Head of Employment at Down Syndrome Ireland added: "Our valued partnership over the past five years with The iNUA Collection has been a huge success for us.

"It has resulted in many opportunities for our adult members with Down Syndrome nationwide, with iNUA providing over 20 paid jobs to our members to date."

In addition to the Tullamore Court Hotel, the iNua Collection includes the Radisson Blu Hotel in Athlone, Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel, and Springfield Hotel in Leixlip, among others.
