Shane Lowry to tee off this evening as weather delays start of Masters

The start time of the first major golf tournament of the year, the Masters in Augusta, Georgia, has been delayed by the weather.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms along the lower eastern seaboard of the US means that the tournament will now begin at 3.30pm Irish time, or 10.30am local time.

Shane Lowry's first tee shot is scheduled for 7.54pm Irish time, and he will be starting alongside Americans Akshay Bhatia and J. T. Poston.

It's thought that the weather delays could result in the Clara man having to finish his opening round tomorrow.

Another scheduled tee time of Irish interest today is that of Rory McIlroy, who is scheduled to begin his tournament at 6.12pm, Irish time.
