Ten Fianna Fáil candidates to contest local elections in Offaly

Fianna Fáil has confirmed that four first time-candidates will join six sitting councillors in contesting next month's local elections for the party in Offaly.

The local elections are being held on Friday, June 7, and Fianna Fáil will be running first-time candidates Audrey Hennessy Kennedy and Barbara Daly in the Birr district, along with Claire Murray in the Edenderry district and Ollie Bryant in the Tullamore area.

The party's sitting councillors who are seeking re-election are: Peter Ormond (Birr), Eddie Fitzpatrick (Edenderry), Robert McDermott (Edenderry), Declan Harvey (Tullamore), Frank Moran (Tullamore) and Tony McCormack (Tullamore).

Local Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowen, said, "We are very lucky here in Offaly to have such a strong local party ticket for the upcoming local elections.

"Fianna Fáil is the largest party in local governments right across the country and, if elected, our local councillors contesting this election will work day and night to work for the people of Offaly.

"We are the largest party in local government in Offaly County Council, and we want to continue that momentum. These candidates want to deliver for the people of Offaly, and local issues are right at the heart of their campaigns," he added.
