Stephen Fry, Jacob Elordi and Jenna Ortega are among the stars who have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
They were named in a list of 529 artists and executives who have been offered membership to the Academy, which is the voting body for the coveted Oscars awards ceremony.
The list of invitees is comprised of 95 Oscar nominees and 21 winners, including Euphoria star Elordi, who received a nod at this year’s ceremony for his role in Guillermo del Toro’s film Frankenstein.
He is joined by actor and comedian Fry, who recently starred in The Celebrity Traitors, as well as Ortega – known for her horror roles in Netflix series Wednesday, the Scream film franchise, and in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Teyana Taylor, who received a nomination at the 2026 Oscars for her role in One Battle After Another, is also named in the list as well as actress and model Mia Goth and Frozen star Josh Gad.
Other stars who have been invited to join the Academy include Josh O’Connor, known for his recent role in Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi film Disclosure Day.
Marvel actor Jon Bernthal and Moana star Jemaine Clement have also been named, as well as Weapons’ Julia Garner and Barbie actor Simu Liu.
Hamilton actor Anthony Ramos, Oppenheimer’s David Dastmalchian and Kenneth Choi – known for appearances in Spider-Man: Homecoming and The Wolf Of Wall Street – are also among the invitees.
Other actors to receive an invite include Suzy Eddie Izzard, Jenny Slate and Lily Rabe, who is known for her roles in Ryan Murphy’s anthology horror TV series American Horror Story.
The list is also comprised of film editors, make-up artists and hairstylists as well as directors, including brothers Josh and Benny Safdie – known for Marty Supreme and Uncut Gems, respectively – and Weapons’ Zach Cregger.
Executives including the head of Disney Josh D’Amaro are also among those invited, along with the creator of Netflix smash hit KPop Demon Hunters – Maggie Kang – and singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles.
The list features nine individuals who have been invited to join multiple branches of the Academy, who must select one branch if they choose to accept their membership.
The membership process for the Academy is conducted by sponsorship, not application, while Oscar nominees such as Taylor and Elordi are automatically considered in the year of their nomination and require no sponsors.
The Academy also said it is committed to representation, inclusion and equity among its members, as 42% of the invitees are women while 56% belong to underrepresented communities.
Academy chief executive Bill Kramer and president Lynette Howell Taylor said: “We are delighted to invite this remarkable group of film artists and professionals from around the world to join the Academy.
“Through their commitment to filmmaking, this year’s exceptionally talented class has made significant contributions to our global movie industry.”
