Offaly Hospice group presented with funds from Norman's walk to Dublin

A Tullamore resident who completed a 132-kilometre fundraising walk from Offaly to Dublin in May has presented proceeds from the charity challenge to the Offaly Hospice Foundation.

Norman Browne, a porter in Tullamore hospital, set off on the epic three-day walk in memory of his father, Dublin man Patrick Browne, who died from pancreatic cancer last September.

The fundraiser was designed to support both Our Lady’s Hospice in Harold's Cross and Offaly Hospice Foundation, and it raised a total of €8,800, which was divided equally between both.

Yesterday (Tuesday), Norman presented the €4,400 cheque to Offaly Hospice Foundation at its office in Tullamore.

Mary Murphy of Offaly Hospice Foundation said everyone associated with the group was very grateful to Norman for his fundraising efforts.

"All at Offaly Hospice are extremely grateful to Norman for this very welcome donation," she commented.

"We thank him most sincerely for all the effort he put into organising and doing his very heartfelt and thoughtful walk in memory of his beloved dad Paddy and for remembering Offaly Hospice Foundation."
