Almost €105,000 raised in Offaly GAA club and county fundraiser

A total of €104,814 has been raised through the Offaly GAA Club & County Fundraising Cycle.

The event took place on Bank Holiday Monday, August 3, marking a major fundraising success for clubs across the county.

Offaly GAA Cathaoirleach Tom Parlon thanked everyone who played a part in the event, including cyclists, volunteers, sponsors and supporters, acknowledging the outstanding community spirit shown throughout the day.

"We had a massive turn out all along both routes, and we've had a terrific response in terms of generous donations," Tom said.

"The scenery of Offaly was fantastic, the weather was beautiful, the craic and camaraderie were great."

He specifically thanked Donagh McArdle, David Gorry, Pádraig Egan, Carina Carroll, Alex Roe, Pádraig O'Meara, and John Hackett for their hard work.

The fundraising cycle was organised to bring clubs and communities together while supporting the continued growth and development of Gaelic Games throughout Offaly.

Funds raised will be shared equally between the participating clubs and Offaly GAA.

The club share will provide valuable support for local activities and facilities, while the county's allocation will be invested in player development, coaching, games promotion and the continued development of Gaelic Games at all levels across Offaly.

The event concluded with a barbecue and refreshments at Glenisk O'Connor Park in Tullamore, bringing participants together to celebrate the success of the day.
