Seven Offaly finalists feature at Blas na hÉireann awards in Dingle

Seven Offaly finalists are featuring at the Blas na hÉireann awards in Dingle today (Friday).

Now in its 19th year, Blas na hÉireann, The Irish Food Awards is the biggest competition for quality Irish produce on the island of Ireland.

Taking place on Friday, October 2, the awards presentations will be made across 8 sessions, running through to 6.30pm.

Offaly-based enterprises Bon Chocolatiers, Flynn’s Irish Whiskey, Garryhinch Wood Exotic Mushrooms, Glenisk, Pigs on the Green, Quarrymount Free Range Meats, and The Bogs Dollops are all finalists at the awards.

The Blas awards are the biggest blind tasting of produce in the country, and the criteria on which the product is judged as well as the judging system itself, which was developed by Blas na hÉireann with the Food Science Dept of UCC, is now recognised as an international industry standard.

Throughout the day The Marquee and The Backyard at Blas will be open as networking areas.
