Free family health events in Offaly

by Conor Burke

Two family health information events are to take place in Offaly later this month.

The free community health and family supports information events are taking place in Portarlington, on Friday, October 16, and Tullamore on Monday, October 19.

These events aim to help parents, family members and caregivers and will provide an informal opportunity to meet local organisations, ask questions and find out more about the health, education and family supports available in their community.

There will be information stands covering a wide range of topics, including children’s health and development, education and family learning, mental health and wellbeing, family and community supports, health services, road safety and more. There is also a light breakfast available for all those who attend. A short panel on youth health and wellbeing will also occur at these events, looking at some of the issues affecting young people today and the supports available.

These events are being organised by Offaly Local Development Company, Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB), Children and Young People's Services Committee (CYPSC), Barnardos, HSE Health Promotion and Parents First Laois Offaly.

Many representatives will be there to have a chat, such as An Garda Síochána, Jigsaw, Mental Health Ireland, Adult Literacy for Life, Parents First, Offaly Domestic Violence, Offaly Traveller Movement and more.

All are welcome to these events, and attendees do not need to know what supports they require in advance. These events are being held as an opportunity to drop in, have a chat and find out what is available locally.
