Shinrone project to receive further boost from upcoming fancy dress walk

A large crowd is anticipated this Sunday (November 1) as Shirone GAA Club hosts its 5km Fancy Dress Walk in support of fundraising efforts for the community's new pitch and walkway project.

The walk will begin at Shinrone Hall at 2pm, taking participants out the Birr Road, around Corlanty Cross, through the Bellefield Gardens, and then back to Shinrone Hall.

The launch of the Shinrone community new pitch and walkway project took place in August and the fundraising effort has already reached over €100,000. The stated club target is to raise €150,000.

The project involves the construction of a new modern playing field, a fully accessible and lit community walking track, alongside all necessary ancillary site works. The development, the club stated, will enhance local recreational amenities and provide a safe, quality facility for competitive sport, recreational fitness and wider community events.

The project is a collaborative effort involving Shinrone Development Ltd, Shinrone GAA and Shinrone Camogie, with the support of the wider Shinrone community.

Following the walk, there will be tea, coffee and refreshments provided at Shinrone Hall.

The club said that 'every registration, donation and bit of support will help us bring the project one step closer to reality'.
