Offaly County Council opens application process for housing adaptation grants

Offaly County Council is advising the public that housing adaptation grants for older people and those with disabilities have opened for applications as of yesterday (February 1).

The following grants are available under this scheme:

* Housing Adaptation Grants (These grants, up to a maximum of €40,000, are for people with a physical, sensory, mental health or intellectual disability who need to make big changes to their home).

* Mobility Aid Grants (These grants, of up to €8,000, are for older people and/or disabled people who find it hard to move around their home due to mobility issues).

* Housing Aid for Older People (These grants, of up to €10,700, are for people aged 66 years or older to enable them carry out essential repairs so they can continue living in their own home).

The council said the application window for these grants will now remain open until July 1, or until 65% of the council's 2026 budget allocation has been committed, whichever occurs first.
