Offaly boxing club fighter earns success at Four Nations
Edenderry Boxing Club's Rachel Lawless was among the medal-winners as Team Ireland returned from the first phase of the Four Nations tournament, held in Scotland, with a total of 33 medals.
The tournament included boxers at all age categories from U15 to elite, representing Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales, with Rachel competing at the elite level.
The Portarlington native, a member of the Defence Forces who represents St Brigid's Boxing Club, Edenderry, successfully managed to reach the elite 54kg final, where she unfortunately lost out to England's Ruby White.
Having also recently fought at the European U23 Championships in Budapest, Rachel will be proud to return home with a silver medal from the 2026 edition of the tournament, which marked a revival, after a years’ long hiatus, of a tradition of competing between the four countries.
Boxing Ireland president Anto Donnelly said: “This has been an outstanding opening phase of the Four Nations tournament for Team Ireland. To win 33 medals is a tremendous achievement and a testament to the commitment of our boxers, coaches and clubs across the country.”
