Irish rugby stars to appear at Tullamore charity night in aid of childhood cancer fund
Five of Ireland's biggest rugby stars are set to attend a Tullamore charity night next month in aid of Cancer Fund for Children.
Taking place in Tullamore Court Hotel on Friday, August 21, the 'Beyond The Try' event has been organised to raise vital funds for childhood cancer care.
Irish internationals Jack Conan, Robbie Henshaw, James Lowe, Garry Ringrose and James Ryan will take to the stage on the night for an exclusive panel discussion hosted by renowned rugby coach, broadcaster and commentator Bernard Jackman.
Jackman will lead the conversation which will feature unique insights from these celebrated Irish internationals.
The event has been organised by Nigel Reams of Lumcloon Energy who is taking part in Rory Best's Miles to Mayo Challenge with the ambitious goal of raising €50,000 for Cancer Fund for Children.
Cancer Fund for Children supports children, young people and families across the island of Ireland who are impacted by cancer.
The charity provides specialist therapeutic support to help families cope with the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis, whether it is a child diagnosed with cancer or a parent living with the disease.
Its services include individual and family support, therapeutic programmes, short breaks and practical assistance during some of the most challenging times a family can face.
Funds raised by the 'Beyond The Try' event will help support the development of the new Daisy Lodge, a purpose-built therapeutic short break centre currently under construction on the shores of Lough Corrib in Cong, Mayo.
Due to open in Spring 2027, the new centre will enable Cancer Fund for Children to support more than twice as many families each year, increasing capacity from around 1,800 to over 4,000 family members annually.
Speaking ahead of the event, Nigel Reams said: "This is about more than rugby. It's about bringing people together to support families who are facing the unimaginable.
"Cancer Fund for Children provides incredible support when it's needed most, and every ticket sold will help them continue that life-changing work.
"I hope 'Beyond The Try' brings people together for a great night while raising as much as possible for such a deserving cause."
Guests can look forward to an evening of honest conversation, entertaining stories, and unique insights into life at the highest level of Irish rugby.
From Grand Slam victories and Six Nations campaigns to British & Irish Lions tours, dressing-room banter and life beyond the game, 'Beyond The Try' promises to reveal the stories supporters rarely get to hear.
With demand expected to be high, early booking is advised. Tickets cost €40 and are available at: https://willwego.com/shop/beyond-the-try.
Every ticket purchased helps reach the €50,000 fundraising target for Cancer Fund for Children and the new Daisy Lodge in Cong, Mayo.
