Tullamore Rugby Club Notes

AGM - The AGM of the club was held on Thursday night of last week and a celebration night for both the 1st team that won the All Ireland Junior Cup in addition to the U-20s that won the Leinster Harry Gale League Cup was also held. Elected or appointed for next season - President: Sean Joyce; President Elect: Raymond Farrell (Snr); Chairman: Patrick Galvin; Captain: Gearoid O"Grady; Secretary: Raymond Mahon; Treasurer: Gerry Egan; Club Coach: Andrew Melville; PRO: Chris Glennon. Paddy Galvin was elected as a Trustee of the club to replace the late Oliver McGlinchey who passed away during the season. Current member, An Taoiseach Brian Cowen, T.D. was made a Honorary Life Member of the Club in recognition of becoming the leader of our country during the season and as an acknowledgement of his help in securing Lotto funding for various capital projects in the club. The award winners for last season were Player of the Year (Claude Hill Memorial Cup): Rob Connor; Most Improved Player: Cian Glennon; 2nd Team player of the Year: Cyril Cornally; 3rd Team player of the Year: John Connolly; Clubman of the Year (Vincent Ennis Memorial Cup): Chris Glennon. The message was clear on both nights that the ambition of the club for next season is to win the Leinster League Premier Division. Both the Provincial Towns Cup and the All-Ireland Junior Cup have been won in recent years and now is the time to take the next step to Senior and AIL rugby. The Premier Division for next season consists of 8 clubs who will play one another both home and away - Seapoint, Boyne, Cill Dara, Tullamore, Dundalk, Monkstown, Skerries and Portlaoise.
