Second set of remains confirmed as Catherine Gowing's

Human remains found on the banks of the River Dee in Higher Ferry, Chester on Friday last have been positively identified as being missing Offaly vet Catherine Gowing's. Human remains found in Sealand, North Wales on October 31 were confirmed as Ms Gowing's last Sunday. Senior investigating officer DCI Mark Pierce said the latest results have been passed to Catherine's grieving family in Clareen, Co Offaly. "As you can imagine this is a very difficult time for them," he said in a statement today, adding that Catherine's family continue to be supported by specialist officers and are being kept fully updated with the progress of the investigation. DCI Pierce has repeated his appeal for any information regarding any sightings of Catherine Gowing's Renault Clio with registration plates 00 D 99970 and Clive Sharp's black Volvo S40 AG58 JHE since Friday, October 12, particularly in the Sealand and River Dee areas. Catherine Gowing was last seen at approximately 8.40pm on October 12 when she was sighted on CCTV leaving Asda supermarket in Queensferry. Since then 46 year old Clive Sharp has been charged with her murder. A search for further remains and any evidence to assist the investigation is continuing.
