€2m water works approved for Tullamore

Funding of over €2m that will allow for water mains rehabilitation works in Marian Place and Arden Vale in Tullamore has been given the green light by Environment Minister Phil Hogan today (Monday). The works to take place are one element of a co-ordinated approach to stop water leakage and will result in an improvement in the quality and reliability of the water supply. In a statement issued today Minister Hogan said Offaly County Council is approved to accept a tender of just over €2.06m by Shareridge Ltd for the work. Contract formalities for the work can now be completed with a view to getting the contractor on site at the earliest date possible. The rehabilitation works set to take place at Marian Place and Arden Vale forms the third tranche of water conservations works by Offaly County Council. The council has already commenced water mains rehabilitation works in Birr and Daingean at an estimated cost of just over €500,000. The council is also proposing to undertake work in both north and south Tullamore at an estimated cost of €2.48m.
